So…
Yeah…
Today has been an eventful day for my site. In the span of 10 hours, I’ve managed to:
- Delete my useless and defunct forum
- Deleted the forum’s database
- Realize my blog was using the same database as my forum (bad BAD danny!)
- Emailed Dreamhost support about my problem
- Get a response from Dreamhost to just click on the big MySQL Recycle Bin button (I’m fregen blind…)
- Restored my deleted database
- Exported my blog tables after having learned my lesson
- Upgrade WordPress from 1.5 to 2.5
- Get punished for my laziness in upgrading by having my blog completely busted; I can’t even log in as the administrator
- Restore the backup of my blog
- Drop my jaw in shock as the backup was just as broken (this I genuinely did not mess up on, the upgrade is an automated script and that fucked up the backup)
- Create a new database and imported my blog tables (phew!)
- Point my old blog to new database and login successfully (BOOYAH! Hope is not lost!)
- Install WP 2.5 as a new install with a new database
- Manually SQL-fu the shit out of the old data to import into the new database
- Discover all the counters are off after imports
- Fix counter bugs and miscellaneous bugs
- Write this post
This is the most I’ve worked on the blog in probably years.
Much more needs to be done, many plugins will need to be tried to replace my old ones that no longer work, but that’s for another day. Me tired -_-
