So…

Yeah…

Today has been an eventful day for my site.  In the span of 10 hours, I’ve managed to:

  1. Delete my useless and defunct forum
  2. Deleted the forum’s database
  3. Realize my blog was using the same database as my forum (bad BAD danny!)
  4. Emailed Dreamhost support about my problem
  5. Get a response from Dreamhost to just click on the big MySQL Recycle Bin button (I’m fregen blind…)
  6. Restored my deleted database
  7. Exported my blog tables after having learned my lesson
  8. Upgrade WordPress from 1.5 to 2.5
  9. Get punished for my laziness in upgrading by having my blog completely busted; I can’t even log in as the administrator :x
  10. Restore the backup of my blog
  11. Drop my jaw in shock as the backup was just as broken (this I genuinely did not mess up on, the upgrade is an automated script and that fucked up the backup)
  12. Create a new database and imported my blog tables (phew!)
  13. Point my old blog to new database and login successfully (BOOYAH!  Hope is not lost!)
  14. Install WP 2.5 as a new install with a new database
  15. Manually SQL-fu the shit out of the old data to import into the new database
  16. Discover all the counters are off after imports
  17. Fix counter bugs and miscellaneous bugs
  18. Write this post

This is the most I’ve worked on the blog in probably years.

Much more needs to be done, many plugins will need to be tried to replace my old ones that no longer work, but that’s for another day.  Me tired -_-

This report makes me shudder…

I-Team: Dirty Hotel Secrets, Pt. 2

Apparently they don’t wash any of their cups, so nasty….. I’m glad I don’t use those cups, but the dishes are probably just as bad *gag*

Sometimes non-programmers don’t understand why software can suck so much, hopefully this will help you people understand: http://www.pcuf.fi/~pjt/pink/software-architecture.html

You might think this is a funny exageration, but you’d be wrong. It is funny, but not an exageration. I find it is often the case that programmers build software that people ask for, after all, eggheads are great at following instructions to a ‘T’, unfortunately, what people want is not what people ask for.

I’m not going to use this as a crutch and say programmers and software engineers can’t and shouldn’t do better, but do understand what we’re working with here.

But this has been explained before…

Apparently its Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the US and apparently many women while quite aware of it, are just not getting the right information.

Despite Awareness Campaigns, Breast Cancer Myths Linger.

One of these myths being that self exams help save lifes. Well according to the Canadian Cancer Society, it doesn’t. Not that if you find anything you shouldn’t go see a doctor, but by the time you feel something, the tumour has already developed a bit.

Belinda Stronach recently discovered a lump with a self-exam, but the message is clear:

It is recommended that women between the ages of 50 and 69 have a mammogram every two years.

Younger women are urged to undergo clinical breast exams every two years started at age 40 and to discuss the risks and benefits of mammography with their physician, based on their family history.

If you’re wondering why I wrote an entire entry on breast cancer…what can I say, breasts facinate me.
