So I had a fever last night, those are never pleasant. I wore lots of clothes and slept under 2 blankets so I was hot last night trying to sweat it out but I’m surprsingly dry, probabaly because I was too dehydrated to sweat at all. Either way I feel better, which was surprising because I felt like crap that was trampled by a herd of elephants last night.

On to the marks…
CS447 81
CS454 80
CS457 73
SMF204 73

I am rather surprised at all of those marks considering 447 is easy but the exam was worth 55% so after some calculation I got roughly a 70% on the exam which is surprising because it wasn’t particularly difficult. Opposite that is 454, which I have done great through out the term on the assignments, but I got a 54 on the midterm (avg was 51) and I thought the exam was ridiculously hard. To see a final mark of 80 suggests there was some serious belling going on. Opposite that is 457 which I have done well on through out the term, like 454 I did poorly on the midterm with a 51 (avg was 48) but I thought I didn’t do too bad on the final but I guess the 73 means I only did okay on the final. 204 was also a surprise, I’ve been getting a 70% through out the term and I was pretty sure I got a 60 or so after I wrote the exam but apparently I got a 75 or so which is the mark I though I was going to get before the exam.

And that as they say, is that. I won’t have to look at Quest or UW for a while…for better or for worse.

So, I’d love to tell y’all about my marks but if you please take a gander at the image below, I am experiencing some difficulties

Does anyone know why a web service has hours? When the people behind Quest first thought up requirements for their app, what did they stand to gain by deciding to limit its hours of operation. It boggles the mind…

I’ve ranted about Quest ever since its started and I’m tired of it…I’ll just remember UW’s quality every time they ask for a donation.

Ever thought Tetris was a bastard for never giving you the bricks you need? Well Bastard Tetris gives you the bricks you need the least! I’m almost tempted to install linux on my spare tower to try it out LOL.

Well here I am, on the morn of what could possibly be the last exam of my academic career or life for that matter, and I’m studying, a normal thing to do but its 6am, and I’m tired, and I’m ranting…I’ve always been good at studying for exams in short time spans (read: cramming), and tonight was no exception, I guess I’ve had so much practice cramming that I’ve gotten good at it, I know to keep my electrolytes up with lots of fluids (the constant need to pee also keeps one up), to wear more clothes because my body temperature drops when I’ve been up for past 24 hours and to take regular naps about 20-30 minutes every 3.5 or so to keep the mind fresh.

Not that I’m actually up for past 24 hours at the moment (there was plenty of that on the last week of school and for my 1st 2 exams), this has been my normal bed time for the past week or so, exams have always messed with my sleeping hours, its just easier to study at night I suppose.

I’m about 65% finished studying and like I said, its bed time, now I have to decide if I should sleep now and wake up slightly early and study the rest of my course or just stay up.

The birds are chirping, so I think I’ll go to sleep, I am confident I’ll have time to study when I get up, in fact I’m confident I’ll get a mark on this exam that is close to what I expect to get. Exams don’t stress me out, its just boring…

So I’ve finally created a Wikipedia account and have already started to contribute, so far I’ve helped deleted quite a few nonsense articles that keep popping up. You’ll be surprise how fast Wikipedia changes, just look at the live change log.

I encourage everyone to create an account and start contributing, it really is a great project that shows what openness can achieve.

For those of you who do not know what Wikipedia is, it is a free on-line encyclopedia where by everyone is free to edit it. If you see an article that can use more heft, feel free to add it. At this point, people will always point out the susceptibility to vandalism and misinformation, just browse some random pages and determine for yourself the quality of wikipedia. You can even check out the most vandalized pages and look at their history to see the many reverts people perform to maintain quality. Introduce yourself to wikipedia now and you’ll wonder what you did without it.

First Monday has a good paper that analysizes the BS the music industry has been shoving down our throats for years.

For those too lazy to ready it:

Following years of lobbying by CRIA, a new reality is only now coming to light — music downloading is not responsible for the ills of the music industry and Canadian artists have not been harmed by the sales declines that have occurred over the past five years. Although faced with significant pressure to reform Canadian copyright law, it is increasingly apparent that the industry’s ills are not the result of peer–to–peer downloading. Moreover, the Canadian experience with private copying suggests that a levy system may provide an effective alternative to adequately compensate artists for lost royalties that may occur due to the current popularity of file sharing services.

Found this tard blog yesterday night and I stayed up all night reading it, it’s in my opinion hilarious. Its the blog of a special ed teacher going by the name of Riti Sped working with mentally challenged kids and the weird and wonderful shit that happens. I’m sure it’s not for everyone and some will think its a bit twisted but if you read enough of it, you’ll see she really cares for these kids and she means no disrespect to them. The humour is her outlet to a very trying job and in her own words: “If I don’t laugh I’ll have to cry”. Definitely worth a read.

Happy 1st Birthday Gmail!

The gift that keeps on giving is couting upwards, I can only speculate it will stop at midnight tonight at 2GB. But as you can see infinity + 1 is clearly greater than infinity which probably means they’ll increase it to 3GB or more for its 2nd birthday :) .

Looks good to me! And according to the link on the bottom, Gmail has plans for more features: “Fonts, bullets and highlighting, oh my!” I’m so glad I ditched hotmail.
