So i’m finally done this bloody CS454 assignment. I thought it was due monday, but it turns out it was actually due friday (today). So I spent all week starting from monday working on it till now. So sick of this assignment. This course is just too low level and anal. I hate c++ as it is, with all the fkn different versions of the compilers, its a fucking non-trivial event to convert a long to a string, such fucking BS. And another thing, whats up with these stupid docs we have to write, I hardly feel it beneficial to us to write these things, I certainly don’t learn anything from it, I suppose its a good way to force us to do an inventory of our assignment, making sure we’ve covered everything but it still feels like a waste of time, and these docs are probably more for the markers than us, but they prob only skim thru it anyway.
All in all, pretty dumb assignment, the actual parts related to distributed system took me a max of 4 hours. All the other 16 hours or so was retarded ass input validation et al. I still don’t understand why the config file had to be validated, we don’t learn anything by parsing a fucking file, for fuck sakes, they coulda made the configuration file an xml file and just let us use standard xml parsers like xerces, at least that is relevant to the industry. Easy assignment, but anal-tastically long…, but more than that, done, so its time to get some good ol’ wholesome gaming in
